Requirements for granting of a Business Visa

  • The original passport
  • Applicant must be coming to Zambia for a Business
  • Gotten only at a port of entry – border or airport
  • Issued free of charge by the Immigration Department
  • Valid only for 30 Business Days

Note: All applicants should remain outside Zambia until the permit has been approved.

Requirements for Issuance of an Employment permit

  • Covering letter from employer addressed to the Director to the General of Immigration
  • Completion of Application for an Employment Permit Form (Form 23)
  • Employment contract/Letter of offer
  • Police Clearance from country of residence
  • Curriculum Vitae
  • Registration certificate from the relevant professional body in Zambia (where required)
  • Certified Copy of qualifications (academic, professional)
  • Copy of marriage and birth certificates
  • Certified copy of valid passport – first page with biodata and the page with the latest Zambian Immigration stamp showing the current status of applicant in Zambia, where applicant had visited Zambia before (page showing applicant left Zambia)
  • Copy of old passport applicant might have used before the current passport
  • Certified certificate of incorporation
  • Certified certificate of share capital and list of Directors
  • Copies of contracts signed in Zambia where available
  • Copies of any other important documents (where possible)
  • Recent passport size photograph

Requirements for Renewal /extension

  • Covering letter to the Director General from concerned employer
  • Completion of Application Form (Form 11)
  • Extended contract of employment as signed by applicant and their employer
  • Copies of the pages of the original Permit – these are all pages that have been written on by the Department of Immigration
  • Certified copy of valid passport – first page with biodata and the page with the latest Zambian Immigration stamp showing the current status of applicant
  • Copies of contracts signed in Zambia if working on new projects
  • Recent passport size photograph
  • Prescribed fee as in the schedule of fees below

Requirements for variation by Addition of Children and/or Spouse

  • Covering letter to the Director General from the applicant
  • Completion of Application Form (Form 9)
  • Copies of the pages of the original Permit – these are all pages that have been written on by the Department of Immigration
  • Certified copies of marriage/birth certificate/s (as would be appropriate for any specific  application)
  • Certified copy of valid Passport (bio data & last endorsement stamp for Zambia)
  • Recent passport size photograph for each of the applicants
  • Prescribed fee as in the schedule of fees below

Requirements for variation by Change of Occupation

  • Covering letter to the Director General from the employer or concerned employer
  • Completion of Application Form (Form 9)
  • Letter of appointment for new occupation
  • Certified copy of valid Passport (bio data & last endorsement stamp for Zambia
  • Copies of pages of the old passport used by applicant where available
  • Copies of the pages of the original Permit – these are all pages that have been written on by the Department of Immigration
  • Certified copies of professional certificates specific to the new occupation to be applied for
  • Recent passport size photograph for each of the applicant

Applicants aged between 7 – 15 years:

  • Copy of original Permit (where applicable)

Applicants above 16 years:

  • Two testimonials as to the character from persons of good standing who have known the applicant for a minimum period of not less than three (3) years

PROCEDURE FOR APPLYING FOR A VISITING PERMIT
A visiting permit is issued to private visitors who want to remain in Zambia for a period in excess of ninety days.

PROCEDURE FOR APPLYING FOR A STUDY PERMIT

Study permits are issued to Non-Zambians who come to study in Zambia.  Applicants who are not resident in Zambia must submit their applications while outside the country.

  • Certified copy of the current passport
  • Copy of old passport that might have been used by applicant
  • Police clearance from applicant’s country of permanent residence. This applies to applicants  who are applying from outside Zambia and are 18 years and above
